project 2007

Alright, this is my biggest project ever. I'm designing and building paper model of a modern battleship, but not one of those over sized monsters, but a fully operational concept consisting of today's armament and battle systems.
For now, a simple overview of the project and some shots of the hull, which is right now about 70% finished.

Main characteristics:
length 255 meters, beam 35 meters, draft 10 meters, displacement 39000/47000 tons

armament:
artillery
main : 9x 16 inch/l50 cannons
universal : 16x 5 inch/l40 cannons
A-A: 5x MK 15 phalanx

rockets:
10x cruise/tomahawk missiles in silos(20 overall )
4x quad Harpoon missiles launcher
4x MK 13 standard missile launcher
2x Standard SM-2ER/Evolved Sea Sparrow missile launchers(32 rockets in each)

ideas stolen from the past :
Bismarck:
General hull geometry, bow superstructure alignment
main guns turrets(simplified and enlarged)
USS Colorado(after the modernization in 1942/43:
universal artillery positioning

North Carolina and Iowa class:
main mast/funnel shaft architecture, superstructure's lowest deck and the aft part of the superstructure
